I'd be interested in a movie or TV series of Galactic Pot Healer. I'll have to read both of those as alternate history sci-fi has never held much attraction for me. Spinrad's The Iron Dream on this paradoxical fireworks ? Honestly don't you think for once PKD was outdone by N. Honestly don't you think for once PKD was I'm afraid I have no idea concerning Alien Cabal. As long as the game will actually play well in DOSBox I will use that every time over VDMSound. So, with this one you need either VDMSound or DOSBox to hear the music. Bard's Tale 3, howver, used Adlib (or compatable,) music. They did it right, though, and made the sounds system speed indipendent, so they play correctly even on modern 2+ Ghz systems. This was true in every version of the game I had (PC, Amiga, & C64.) However, Bard's Tale 1 and 2 only had PC speaker sounds on the PC. However, only when you had a bard in the party and the were playing a song. I don't think any of them had music during actual game play (on the PC or the Amiga, the only 2 systems I've ever had them for.īard's Tale had in game music. I have no console port to compare this to but it still seems odd that a FPS would have no music.Įye of the Beholder only had music during the entro sequences. The intro music works but once I get into the maps there is no music. This is because sometimes I can’t tell if there even is supposed to be music in a Ī doom clone I found. Again I found a Console port and compared it to the DOS version. The intro music works but when I go into the town and fight battles there is no music to be heard. ![]() When I compare the DOS version to the SNES port I found that the SNES version had music in the first Dungeon so this makes me believe that the DOS version should have music in the first Dungeon as well. When I’m in the first Dungeon the sound effects work but there is no music. There are few games I would like to ask about regarding the music ![]() This is because sometimes I can’t tell if there even is supposed to be music in a certain part of the game. The Summoned Characters.Getting sound to work in Dosbox is difficult. The dog guides the player to new areas, and tells the player where to go next. The Bard also has a pet dog who follows him throughout the story. All of the Summoned creatures have developed characters and are some of the most playful parts of the game. He then whistles cheerfully as he walk into the nearest trap and sets if off killing him in the gruesomest ways imaginable. A hysterical dwarf- like creature who when summoned utters "You need me to find some traps?". One of the most entertaining is the Trap Finder. ![]() Some are great fighters, like the Brute, Knight and Mercenaries. The magic system is a summon system, where you play songs to summon allies. The Bard has Melee and Ranged weapons at his disposal and an interesting Magic system. It plays closer to an action adventure game like Gauntlet than a traditional RPG. The Bard's Tale takes place in a 3D environment but from a top down perspective. Gameplay The Bard and His Dog, From the Gameplay Angle Another comic element in the game is the narrator (voiced by Tony Jay) who wishes the bard was a traditional "RPG Hero" instead of the lazy drunk he is. His only motivation is coin and cleavage. The bard is a drunk, womanizing, lazy, musician who has no aspiration of saving the world. The Bard himself is voiced by Cary Elwes of The Princess Bride and Robin Hood: Men in Tights fame. The Bard's Tale is to Baldur's Gate what Space Balls was to Star Wars. The Bard's Tale is a comedic parody of RPGs.
